FIGHT THE POWER

2025

It seemed to me that had Anthony Fisher not smuggled 24 fertilised Plymouth Rock chicken eggs into the country, in 1952, but instead, had smuggled one or two ostrich eggs, then the UK would be a different place than the miserable hell hole that it is today. Roasting a chicken is a culinary experience for a small number of people. Roasting an ostrich would be a communal thing. Hell, making an omelette from an ostrich egg could feed a few households. I sought to explore bird calls and other sound making devices, enlarging them to roughly 27 times their conventional size. Once I had made them, I went to see Jah Wobble and the Invaders of the heart, and for reasons difficult to express found myself making a cover version of Public Enemy's Fight The Power.
