Components of my 2024 project, The Cracked Egg. Cain and Abel are two wooden spheres made from 12 layers of dodecahedrons of varying radii, glued together and turned into spheres. Cain, the intact sphere, can be played by holding the wooden sphere in the left arm and rotating the aluminium cone in the hole in the base of the sphere. Based on bird calls made by Audubon and Quelle Est Belle, this was played at Heaven's Gate lookout point overlooking the Longleat Estates, to encourage the ostriches to rise up and eat the Marquess of Bath. Abel, the reassembled sphere was thrown at a basketball court by the Holborn Museum in Bath, inspired by Mike Davis's book Late Victorian Holocausts.
