BUST OF WILLIAM BLAKE
I had spent a long time modelling William Blake's face, but I could not quite get the likeness. In a pique of frustration I pushed my thumb into the face, then decided to fire the clay anyway. One of my first attempts to make my own glaze, once the piece was fired for a second time, I placed two blue beads near where his eyes should be. It made me laugh and I think it is an exceptional piece, but I seem to be the only person that does. I sent the William Blake society an email asking if they would like to acquire it for their collection, but as yet they have not lowered themselves to reply to my kindly written email.
