MASTER, CUT THE STONE OF MADNESS OUT

Master, Cut the Stone of Madness Out is a 13 minute stop-motion animation film made in my home studio over an 14 month period in 2020 and 2021. The film was shot with an Epson EOS 500 SLR, and lit with Ultra Violet torches as a series of stills, which were then animated and worked on in Photoshop, Premiere and Cinema 4D.

The film describes the life-cycle of a story of revenge, where two friends who live in a curious multi-dimensional house overlooking a hotel in St Petersburg exact a succession of murders before their plans which involve a baroque abjection of natural resources, go horribly wrong.

The film was selected to be shown as part of the Sleepy Eyes silent film festival in The Hague in February 2026. 

Described as "A nightly cinematographic walk along one of the oldest streets of The Hague. Westeinde will be temporarily transformed into a walk-through cinema. Shop fronts, homes and workspaces will be turned into film screens, giving historic facades a new purpose."
