FOOD PAINTINGS

I was hired to design a logo for a Basque restaurant in Maida Vale. I provided a large number of options, none of which were satisfactory to the restauranteurs. In a bold move, they suggested that instead of paying me for the logo designs they did not use, they might instead pay me to do a series of paintings for their menu. I was somewhat baffled by having to do a whole other job to get paid at all, but I took some watercolours on holiday and did them while looking at the sea from a balcony on the isle of Elba.

I entered the painting of the Turbot into the Artists of the Year Exhibition run by that magazine, at the Mall Gallery. It was selected. Because I am an idiot, I did something weird to the painting before I handed it in. Don't even ask.
