GESTURES
A short series of kinetic sculptures investigating hand gestures. These were originally based around a long story about sending a mug with a graphic showing a rude hand gesture to someone who died while the mug was in transit. I made a series of fingers (initially as protection from COVID 19, claiming to be the lucky fingers of Saint Bernadino, the patient saint of chest complaints. These eventually turned out to be unlucky fingers as I nearly died from Infective Endocarditis, and Saint Bernardino was revealed to be a homophobe and anti-semite. Eventually I made a revolving sculpture, The Diane Wave, based on the wave Diane gives Bob's mum in the film Drugstore Cowboy.
