BLACK BOOK 3
2021 – 2022
On the first page of the third Black Book, it states it was begun on the 3rd February 2021. This was the beginning of a difficult time. My mother was diagnosed with cancer. I was hospitalised with heart disease. My mother died. I was hospitalised with septic shock and a giant elbow.
This book is therefore, somewhat gloomy in places. The first section, where all the unpleasant stuff happens is solely in black and white. Then there is a spell where I was blank. I remember reading Denis Johnson's Fiskadoro and thinking, oh, I'll draw a clarinet, but I could barely be bothered. Then I signed up to study a BA in Creative Arts Practice at Bath Spa University and my mood improved. Inverse to my earnings.
